Stampede Gang Train Robbery - June, 2011

Thwarted again, Sheriff Charming Billy was taken by surprise during the transport of Stella Rose, leader of the infamous Stampede Gang.  Charming Billy boarded the WURR train with his prisoner at the Elgin Depot, accompanied by the local circuit priest, Sort-of-Father Ronaldo, who was to accompany Stella to her hanging at the Imnaha Courthouse Square.

It was a pleasant ride for about 45 minutes.  Passengers were entertained by two local saloon girls, Lily and Daisy, who visited and flipped their boas around, charming most of the male passengers.  They also burst into an occasional song, inviting the audience to participate.

The pleasant ride turned sour for Charming Billy, however, when Stella’s brothers rode out of the timber and raced alongside the train, stopping it in its tracks.  Literally.  At that point, Sort-of-Father Ronaldo , Daisy, and Lily, showed their true colors, Ronaldo pulling a gun from his Bible, and the saloon girls pulling derringers from their garters.  The brave Stampede Gang  boarded the train, robbed the passengers,  rescued Stella, captured Charming Billy, and raced off into the sunset, two of them with a saloon girl snuggled up behind them.

Note:  The WURR leaves Elgin and follows the Grande Ronde River to Kimmel.  It also has other excursion routes.  For information and schedules, check at http://www.eaglecaptrain.com
